The Specs are a group of seasoned musicians, each with a rich background in performing in various bands. Lead singer Taylor Rae is a captivating entertainer skilled at engaging crowds. Guitarist Tim Marchand is known for their mastery of clean tones and exhilarating solos. Bassist Jay Wilson and drummer Salvador Calo provide a tight, energetic rhythm that keeps the audience dancing all night long. Slade Blanchard | Keys & Musical Director
As the founding member of The Specs, Slade is the band’s foundation and anchor, driving its success with his technical skill and artistic vision. He brings any genre to life with precision and heartfelt interpretation, ensuring each setlist is dynamic and captivating. Slade’s humor and grace unite the band, fostering camaraderie and making each performance memorable.
In addition to his role with The Specs, Slade serves as the keyboardist and musical director for The Taylor Rae Band. His leadership and versatility showcase his dedication to creating outstanding music, making him an invaluable asset to any musical endeavor.
Salvador Calo | Drums
With each hit of the snare and tap of the kick, Sal lays down a groove so ‘in the pocket’ that listeners can’t help but move to his rhythm. His percussive techniques are always tasteful and precise, whether playing a funky backbeat, driving a rock anthem, or swinging through a jazz standard.
Sal’s exceptional drumming provides the backbone for The Specs, seamlessly adapting to various genres with finesse and skill. His rhythmic mastery and versatile style ensure that every performance is a dynamic and captivating experience, keeping audiences enthralled from start to finish.
Tim Marchand | Guitar

Beyond his work with The Specs, Tim’s musical talents extend to several other projects. He is a vital member of Hip Deep, contributes his skills to the soulful sounds of Jovin Webb, and showcases his love for classic rock as part of Only Dans, a Steely Dan cover band. Taylor Rae | Lead Vocals
A powerhouse of talent, Taylor has perfected the art of captivating an audience with her extraordinary vocal abilities, magnetic charm, and vibrant charisma. As the lead singer of The Specs, she effortlessly commands the stage, inviting everyone to join her in the joy of music.
Beyond her work with The Specs, Taylor enjoys a flourishing solo career, delivering electrifying performances alongside her band, The Taylor Rae Band. Jon Scholl | Keys / Percussion
Jon’s keyboard and percussion playing serves as an integral part of The Spec’s rhythm section, helping give The Specs their unique sound and personality. Jon uses his lengthy background and experience in performing, synthesis, and music production to help round out The Specs’ arrangements, helping to add the color, mood, and energy needed to deliver the most exciting shows possible. All of those details that make the greatest recordings as memorable as they are, they’re often lost in the live performance. Jon works to recapture those details, helping give the entertaining and captivating performances unique to The Specs.
Jay Wilson | Bass
Jay’s bass is the heartbeat of The Specs, driving the rhythm forward with unwavering soulfulness. His deep, resonant bass lines provide the essential groove that underpins the band’s sound, seamlessly blending technical proficiency with emotive playing. Jay’s dynamic style elevates every performance, ensuring the audience feels the music in their bones. His contributions are crucial to the band’s unique sound, making each song an immersive and unforgettable experience.
Other than his imperative role in The Specs, Jay is also a member of two other incredibly unique and diverse bands: Baby in the 90’s, which brings an Indie/Rock vibe, and Breadstick Space Opera, which blends Funk and Fusion influences.
